FIRST RULE OF DMVI: NO BODYCHECKS/COLLISIONS. This tournament is designed for fun and enjoyment by all. Our goal is for all involved to have a positive and healthy experience.

Coaching All teams MUST have at least one coach on the sideline over the age of 21
Player Ejections 2 Game Suspension for 1st, All Remaining Games for second
Uniform Jerseys provided by tournament and MUST be worn for ALL games
Equipment Boys – Helmet, Shoulder pads, Arm pads, Gloves, Cup, LEGAL Stick

Girls – mouthpiece, cleats/turf shoes, sticks, and goalie equipment.

Goalies Each team MUST have a properly equipped goalie to start the game
Game Length Games will consist of one 25-minute, running time period
Game Start All games will start and stop on a central horn. Any team not on the field and ready to play within 1 minute after the horn will start the game defending a fast break.

Shot Clock NONE
Field Size Approximately – 70y x 35y
Game Format 6v6 – 1 Goalie, 5 field Players (no poles)
Whistle Starts Play No self-starts allowed. Whistle starts play after dead ball (Start of Game, Penalties, Out of Bounds, and Goals)
Face-off/Draw To start game ONLY, All players other players except goalie behind goal line extended. Goalie remains in crease until possession is called.
After a Goal is Scored Ball starts IN CREASE with GOALIE. Whistle starts play. 4 Second count applies from whistle.
Offsides Goalie is not allowed to go over midfield.
Ball out of Bounds Any time the ball goes out of bounds, possession is awarded to the team that did not touch it last regardless of player position (“closest to the ball”)
Substitution All subs are on the fly
5 Goal Margin If EITHER TEAM, regardless of last goal is down by 5 goals or more, they are awarded the ball at midfield. This could cause the ball to be awarded to the team that just scored.
Ties – Bravehearts
  1. Each team fields a goalie and ONE field player.
  2. Play starts with a face-off/draw.
  3. Goalies must be in their crease during the faceoff.
  4. Goalies may not cross midfield.
  5. The first team to score a goal wins
  6. All other standard rules apply.

 

 

Boys Rules
1.      NO BODYCHECKING OR COLLISIONS: All players must play the ball. No “man/ball”. Bodychecking an opponent to the ground will result in a fast break for the opponent as an unnecessary roughness penalty.

2.      PENALTIES – All regular penalties are called. Time-serving Personal Fouls will require the offending player to leave the field for the fast break. Time-serving technical fouls will require a fast break but the offending player does NOT have to leave the field. Multi-minute and more than one foul on the same play will lead to a 3v1 fast break.

3.      PENALTY ENFORCEMENT – 3 on 2/1 fast break from midfield. 1 non-offending midfielder begins 5 yards ahead of the midfield line. All other players begin behind the midline. All players released on a SINGLE whistle.

4.      Advancement of the Ball (14U Boys Only) – 10-Second Count to advance ball past midfield.

5.      Over-and-Back  – Normal over-and-back rules will apply once ball crosses midfield.

6.      One Pass Rule (8U and 10U Only) – One pass must be made/attempted anywhere, including goalie clear, before a shot can be taken

Girls Rules
1.      CHECKING:

a.      K/2 and 3/4 – NO CHECKING

b.     5/6 and 7/8 – Modified Checking.

2.      One Pass Rule (K/2 and 3/4 only) – One pass must be made/attempted anywhere, including goalie clear, before a shot can be taken

3.      PENALTIES: Penalties will be administered according to the NFHS and USL rules.

a.      Minor: Defender must move 4 meters behind (Pushing, holding, charging)

b.     Major: (think yellow card). Offending player goes off field.

4.      Over-and-Back – Normal over-and-back rules will apply once ball crosses midfield.

5.      No Shooting Space: There is walling

Defense is allowed to run through the crease

3 Way Ties – Lowest Goal Differential (Goals For MINUS Goals Against) Determines 3rd
We go back to Head-to-Head to decide 1st or 2nd
