Nick Redd

Coach Nick Redd is an elite defensive specialist and experienced lacrosse trainer with a proven background competing and coaching at the highest levels of the game. He currently serves as the Defensive Coordinator for the Gonzaga College High School varsity lacrosse program, where he works with players to develop defensive fundamentals, lacrosse IQ, toughness, and high-level positional play.

A former standout defender at the University of Maryland, Coach Redd was originally recruited as a close defenseman and long-stick midfielder before transitioning to short-stick defensive midfield during the fall of his junior year. He went on to become a two-year starting SSDM for the Terrapins and played a key role in three championship runs during his collegiate career, including Maryland’s 2022 National Championship team.

Throughout his time at Maryland, Coach Redd earned recognition both on and off the field as a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection (2022, 2023, 2024). As a senior captain-level leader in 2024, he appeared in all 17 games as Maryland’s starting short-stick defensive midfielder, totaling nine ground balls and seven caused turnovers while consistently matching up against top offensive talent in the country. During the 2023 season, he played in all 16 games as a critical part of the SSDM rotation while also contributing at LSM when needed.

Before Maryland, Coach Redd starred at Wilmington Friends School in Delaware, where he established himself as one of the region’s top defensive players. A First Team All-State selection and multi-time All-Conference honoree, he helped lead Wilmington Friends to back-to-back DISC Championships. Over his high school career, he totaled 226 ground balls, 102 caused turnovers, 19 goals, and 10 assists while competing for the nationally respected Nation United Lacrosse Club.

Coach Redd specializes in defensive footwork, short-stick defensive midfield play, positioning, transition defense, stick work, ground balls, and overall lacrosse IQ development. His training sessions are designed to help athletes improve confidence, sharpen technique, and develop the work ethic and discipline necessary to compete at the highest level.
